I had 5 dreams last night & they all involved death: War, thugs, cancer, the apocalypse, and…gymnastics?

Dreams

Like I said in my title, I had several dreams last night and in every one of them I was near death (well, the gymnastics one is a stretch).  In the first I was walking around like I was taking a trip across the country just to see where I’d end up and what would happen.  I was walking across a field and saw a guy standing around, and I was just trying to pass by but he gave me a nasty look.  Then he had a big knife and threw it toward me, and I just dodged it in time.  But he didn’t give up, and I had to avoid it a couple more times until I was out of range.

Then I met up with my friends, and I was a soldier fighting in a war.  Side note:  The first dream took place in the day time when it was nice and sunny out, while the second and subsequent dreams took place at night.  So I was in a war, and while we were all going out on our duty I got separated from my comrades.  The rest of the dream was spent trying to find them, and I was very upset with myself for not keeping an eye on them like I was supposed to.

After that I was at a party with some people, and I had the feeling like I had been there before.  I thought it happened to me before (i.e. I thought I had a dream about it before, but I don’t think I actually did), and I felt very strongly that the party was just a big setup to kill us all.  I thought of how I could convince everyone to get out of there, but I ultimately just stayed and accepted it.

Somewhere along the way I got the news that I had cancer, and I knew/thought I was going to die that night.  I went back to my apartment with my friends, although none of them were real friends from my life.  It was like we were hiding out from people, probably the ones who were setting us up in the last dream.  There was some weird stuff going on that doesn’t really affect the theme of these dreams so I won’t mention it.

The last dream is a clear outlier from the rest.  I was with Brian, and for some reason he decided to join a high school gymnastics team that wasn’t even close to us.  He was trying out by swinging around with some other gymnasts, and he was doing really well.  They were getting pretty close to hitting some of the apparatuses, which I could count as another dream about death but it’s really not.

One Year Ago Today

I said that I had to shovel at the church before the service that Sunday, which confused me because I remember learning that there was a couple who always did that on Sunday mornings.  I then remembered that the one day I went over to do it and saw them there, they told me they were going out of town next week and needed me to do it.  I just never explained that in my blog so I got a little confused.

My Day

I knew I’d sleep in late today because I was up for 18.5 hours yesterday, as opposed to my usual 12-14 hours.  My dad called me which woke me up at 3pm, and then I decided I should clean the church today to get it done.  I always want to put it off, but I’m always happy to get it done so I have the rest of the week to do nothing.  I got back home just in time to watch the new HIMYM, and then I watched a bunch of Malcolm.

Then it was time for a movie, so I watched Poseidon which is the 2006 remake of the original that I watched a few nights ago.  It has some actors in it that I recognize, but I really only got it when I saw that Emmy Rossum is in it.  Kurt Russell plays Gene Hackman’s character only in that he becomes the leader sort of, and I like that because he really resembles 70’s Hackman and has the same commanding attitude.  The effects were definitely better than the original, but they were the same in that the characters had to go through similar trials to get out alive but their group kept losing people along the way.

After the movie I started Season 5 of Seinfeld, which has some great episodes (well, every season has some great episodes).  Now I’m going to bed, and tomorrow I’m scheduled to work.  I doubt I will have to, unless Valentine’s Day somehow gets busy there.  But other than tomorrow, the rest of the week is wide open.  Thanks for reading, and “I’ve been pushed down into the ground, but I will rise up a tree.”
