I finally got my new watch adjusted to my wrist today and it fits great. But I might still get a nicer one…
One Year Ago Today
I talked about how my feelings toward moving away change like night and day, literally. In the day when I think about moving to California, it’s day and sunny and the prospect seems awesome. But in the night when it’s dark and quiet I get more nervous about moving. I was at my aunt’s house sleeping on an air mattress and it made me think of what the first nights will be like when I do move, because I won’t have everything set up yet and it’ll take some time to get acclimated. But I’m still looking forward to finally moving out of here (my house and New York), but I have a great job and things are generally going well so I’m okay right now.
My Day
I slept in until after 3pm today, and then after I showered I met Brian and Dan and got Taco Bell. That was great because I wanted to get some all week, and I just had enough time to do that before work. Because I started work an hour later I was able to go to the mall to get my watch adjusted. First I went to McDonald’s on the way to get an SS for the drive, which complimented the Taco Bell very well.
I got to Macy’s right on schedule, and it didn’t take that long to get the links taken out. While I was there I looked at the watches, and I saw the same watch I had before but it was the other color scheme choice. When I got my first watch years ago I narrowed it down to a Seiko Coutura, and I went with the shiny blue one with three white dials. The other was a shiny gray with black dials, and they both looked nice in different ways. So I looked at that one and was told it was on sale for $200 until Valentine’s Day, and that’s half of what I paid for it last time. Because I already had the woman adjust my watch I didn’t want to then return that one to get another one (and there was another saleswoman who was showing me the other watch so I felt like loyalties could be betrayed). I thought about buying that other one too right then, and I came close to an impulse buy but I’m glad I didn’t. So I’ll think about it tomorrow and decide if I first want a nicer watch, and second if I want that particular one.
I got out of there right on time and picked up the alternate route to work and got there on time. It was actually really busy in the poker room, and we weren’t having any special stuff but I heard that there were two concerts going on. I also saw a couple people in uniforms that were close to ours but I’ve never seen them before. So I’m taking a guess that because of the concerts going on and whatnot, maybe there were some big name players who were here so they opened the high roller room? I didn’t hear anything about it but I’m just taking a wild guess.
I dealt $3-$6 Omaha Hi-Lo for the first time, and I almost didn’t recognize my cousin Ryan who was playing at my table. So it was good to see him, but unfortunately didn’t deal him any winners. I dealt tons of different games tonight, so it was a good test of my versatility. I dealt the Omaha I just mentioned as well as the regular $5-$10 Omaha Hi-Lo, $1-$2 no-limit, $2-$5 no-limit, $2-$4 limit, $20-$40 limit, and $30-$60 limit. I got tipped good and bad tonight, but overall I made just under $200 which is the best night I’ve had in a long time. I worked for 7 hours and got out at 3am, and then I ate some sushi before heading home. Now I can go to bed at 6:30am, and we’ll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for reading, and let’s go Jeremy Lin!
