The new NBC show “Awake” actually seems good. Most shows seem like the same old crap, so this is promising.

One Year Ago Today

I shoveled, got a haircut, cleaned the church, then stayed overnight at my aunt’s house because she was recovering from cataract surgery.  In contrast I did nothing all day today so a year ago was much busier.

My Day

I woke up early because I got a text from Jon that piqued my interest, so a bit after noon I was up.  But the guys were still a few hours away from being done working for the day, so I just watched last night’s talk shows and then the rest of Season 5 of Malcolm.  So just two seasons left of that show, which is sad.  I also played more Zelda on and off, and it’s getting better.  Then I showered, and I got a strong urge to do some lifting.  I haven’t lifted weights of any kind in months, so I decided to stop putting it off and just do some even if it’s just a little bit.  I’ll be sore tomorrow for work because of all my inactivity, but it’ll be good to get back in it in some form.

Because I got up so early I got hungry earlier than normal, and my mind was entertaining the idea of getting a feast for dinner.  I thought about Taco Bell with Brian but he couldn’t, and I could have just got it myself but I didn’t feel like leaving the house (although I could have gotten an SS, dangit).  My mom said she was going to get Chinese buffet with some of my cousins, but I didn’t want to go out.  The truth is that I was leaning toward Chinese and sushi myself, so to still do that just seemed wrong to me.  Instead I heated up a pizza, which thankfully appeased me more than I thought.  I watched the new NBC shows, and there was no Parks and Rec and all the episodes were just so-so.

Then I watched the movie Paper Man, which is about a struggling writer (Jeff Daniels) and his wife (Lisa Kudrow) who just moved to a small community.  The writer has an imaginary friend who is a superhero named Captain Excellent (Ryan Reynolds) who always shows up to give advice or chastise the writer.  To my excitement I saw that Emma Stone is in it too, which automatically makes this a good movie.  When he meets her he randomly asks her to babysit for him although he doesn’t have a kid.  She has a jerk boyfriend, but also a close friend (Kieran Culkin) who really loves her but she doesn’t appreciate him yet.  So the movie is about all of this mashing together.  I like movies like this where the plot is complicated and strange, because it doesn’t go by the traditional formats that other movies follow, and you don’t know where the story will take you or how it will end.  There was a little twist toward the end that I liked, and I was happy because I saw it coming a few minutes before it was revealed.  It was a good movie and I’m glad I finally got around to watching it.  Now I’m going to bed.  Thanks for reading, and “Yeah I like clouds.  I call them sky kittens.”
