It’s really encouraging to see how happy the fellow Knicks guards are for Jeremy Lin, who’s been killing it.
One Year Ago Today
The power went out that morning, which meant that I had to shovel at the church by hand because I needed power to start the snow blower. The snow was heavy and there was freezing rain coming down the whole time, so it was the most strenuous shoveling I’ve ever done.
Thoughts
Jeremy Lin is a new Knicks point guard this season. He went to college at Harvard, and he’s one of the rare Asian players in the league. At the start of the season he got hardly any playing time, and then a few games ago Coach D’Antoni decided to bring him in off the bench first. He showed a lot of heart, energy, and skill, and that has earned him tons of minutes and a starting position at point guard. The Knicks have been without a genuine point guard all season, so it’s very fortunate we found this gem on our roster. What made me the happiest was seeing the other point guard Toney Douglas cheering him on, and Iman Shumpert tweeting his praises. It shows a lot of class and team spirit to wish him well when he’s taking their playing time. So I’m really happy for him, and I wish him continued success. Oh, and I found him on Twitter and saw that he is a Christian too. So now I’m just in love with this guy.
My Day
I slept in until after 3pm today, and when I woke up I was really lightheaded. It’s normal for me to feel a little weird after sleeping for 10+ hours, but I was really dizzy and had trouble standing for a while. I determined that although it wasn’t like an ordinary lack-of-food dizziness, some breakfast would help. It did, and after about an hour I felt fine.
I had the whole day free, and I decided to start playing my new Zelda game. The intro stuff was pretty long, and I’m not thrilled with the graphics. In some ways it’s a vast improvement over the Game Boy Color games, but everything’s done on the touch screen and I don’t really like that any better. All the people look really cartoony and I don’t like that, but I think it’ll grow on me. I made it through the first stuff and stopped once I got out into the world.
I caught up on all my shows later, then watched The Poseidon Adventure. I’ve heard it referenced on a few shows, and I thought it was some epic movie about gods or the sea but it’s not as cool. It was about a cruise ship that sank and a group of people who try to find their way to the top (or bottom since it capsized). It was alright. I watched more Malcolm and Seinfeld, and now bed.
My mom didn’t come home until after 4am, and I was really worried about where she was. Sometimes she works late, but never this late. It’s weird that I still worry about her just like I did when I was really young. But she’s back and all is well. Thanks for reading, and “It’s just part of being an adult. You know, you have to do things you don’t want to do. Like, horrible things, like drink scotch. You know, when you’re an adult and you have to drink scotch. It sucks.”
