One thing I hate while I’m driving is when I have to take my eyes off of a pretty girl to focus on the road.
One Year Ago Today
I said that this was an all-around good day for the most part: I got to hang out with a couple friends, poker went well, I played some games, watched some movies, saw some Seinfeld, watched the Knicks’ game (although they lost), and had some food.
My Day
I didn’t exactly have trouble sleeping, but around 1pm (at hour 6 of what I expected to be about 10 hours of sleeping) my step-dad tried to call be briefly but hung up. I saw I had a few texts but nothing urgent, and I planned to go back to sleep but I couldn’t for some reason. The guys weren’t working on the bathroom so the house was quiet, but I couldn’t really sleep so I just got up. I was able to shave and take a shower so I felt clean and ready to start my three days of nothing.
However, my mom called and said I should go to my dad’s uncle’s wake tonight so I’m going there with her. I felt bad for thinking that since I only met him like twice I shouldn’t have to go, but I know that that’s being insensitive toward a family member. He was the same age as my father and they were close when they were young, which is a rare thing but I guess it happens. I went with my mom and it was good to see my dad’s side of the family if nothing else.
Before that I went to Taco Bell with Dan, and that beefy crunch burrito box is really filling, and a great deal. It’s only $5 ($5.41 with tax), and it has a Crunchwrap, a taco, and a drink just like the T9, but it also has a burrito and is a little cheaper. It’s an amazing deal, and when I got it today the girl remembered me from yesterday when I got it from the drive-thru. That kept me filled for at least another 8 hours.
While at Taco Bell I saw the sign for McDonalds and saw that the Shamrock Shake is back, and I decided I want to get one every day they’re available…Well, maybe just when I’m driving by a McDonalds. So on the way back from the wake I got one, and of course it was delicious. I got back in time to watch the Knicks game, and they had a really good game against the Bulls. The Knicks’ defense was clicking, they did several pick-and-rolls with Stoudemire like they should do every game, and both teams were just entertaining to watch. The Knicks ultimately missed a couple last-minute shots and lost by 3, but it was still a good game.
After the game I watched the movie 50/50. It was a comedy about a young guy who gets cancer, who is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt who is awesome. His best friend is played by Seth Rogan, and right there I knew the movie would be good. His therapist is played by Anna Kendrick, and I’ve seen her in a few other movies but this is my favorite role of hers. She was really cute and sweet, and she was a young therapist but trying really hard to comfort the guy with cancer. It was a good movie, although they made some of the characters a little too extreme. When the doctor tells him he has cancer the doctor doesn’t look at him, talks into his voice recorder first while he’s sitting right there, talks in all “doctor speak,” and is completely cold and emotionless when giving the news. I understand the point of all of that, but that was way too extreme.
Then before bed I watched Groundhog Day which is now the third year in a row I’ve done this. It’s the same thing as V for Vendetta because they both occur on a specific date each year of no real importance in life but of great importance in the movie.
On a side note: My new Kem cards came in today, and I’m very happy with them. I got the dealer kit so I’d get a couple dealer buttons, blind buttons, and cut cards, but they didn’t give me the dealer buttons. I don’t think it’s worth putting up a fuss about a little thing like that so I probably won’t say anything. But since I got them today I thought of how if I just ordered them one day sooner I could have had them for last night’s game. But, since I had an incredible night I wouldn’t want the cards to be any different. I believe I still would have won because I’m a confident player (which the results to back it up), but I’m almost positive I wouldn’t have made that much. And that’s it for me. Thanks for reading, and “I hated you for months, and now I have evidence that you suck as a person!”
