Foxwoods Trip #2: Day 2
My bed was very comfortable and I really wanted to get some good rest, so I just kept sleeping until I finally got up at 2pm. I showered in our cool walk-in shower that has a bench which is just a great idea. Brian got up after me (so I didn’t have to worry about waking him up) and we left our room after 3pm. We grabbed some food at a deli, and we were the only ones there under the age of 60. I got a turkey sandwich that came with some weird crap, but it was surprisingly edible. I paid for it and two meals at Noodles (my favorite place here) with my reward points, so that’s been nice.
Then we each started playing poker around 4pm but at different tables this time. I promise I’ll make this brief. I won my first pot, but I was in reverse after that. I flopped a flush when I checked my big blind and was beat by a better flush. He limped in early position with a terrible hand and I would have lost more if the river didn’t pair the board. He even gave a speech that he thought I had nothing, so I was mad I fell for another speech.
I had to lay down KK and AA in pots where I could have lost a lot of money, and both of those plays by me were questionable but I was cautious. I guess I was lucky to not go broke from those, and I still had over half my starting stack.
After that I won two big pots with a flopped set of 9s both times, and those brought me back to even. Darry joined my table later which provided some entertainment for several hours. I worked my stack up to over $400 (so $100 profit), but I couldn’t get much more than that. So eventually I stopped there so I actually had a winning session now. My streak of no losing sessions is still good.
I asked for the Knicks game to be shown on a TV not in use, so I got to watch my Knicks beat the Sixers (1st in our division) while I proudly wore my Knicks shirt. There were mostly Boston Celtics fans there, and I silently enjoyed watching them lose to the Mavs tonight too.
Jon played the tournament tonight and made the money plus extra for his three bounties, and then he sat at our table for a while. He was really drunk, but last I heard he was up $400 so that kid is sick. Brian lost a little at $1-$2 but made some back at $2-$4 limit. Darry was down but made some back later in the night, so he is up for the night I believe.
After poker Darry and I got some Noodles again, and I was glad I was able to play poker at the same table for 10 hours without having to get up for food. I couldn’t get a hold of Brian who stopped playing a few hours before us, and I walked back to the room and found him asleep. Better than having passed out somewhere in the casino. I called the front desk and checked about the Grey Goose, and I think I won’t be getting charged for it. Now I can finally go to bed, and then up at 11 for our noon checkout. Thanks for reading, and we got one more day for us all to win big.
